I have had clients admit, after years of coming to us, that they were nervous the first time. Not about the treatment — about not knowing the etiquette. Whether to tip. How to say they did not like something. Whether asking the price first looks cheap.

None of that should be a barrier. So here is how a visit actually goes.

Before you come

  • Call or WhatsApp and say what you want. We will tell you the price and how long it takes. Ask both.
  • For hair, come with clean-ish dry hair unless you booked a wash. Bring two or three reference photos.
  • For facials, come with a clean face if you can, and know the names of the products you currently use.
  • For waxing, let the hair grow to about a quarter inch — two to three weeks. Do not shave beforehand.
  • For makeup, bring your outfit or a photo of it, and your own lipstick if you have a shade you like.
  • Allow more time than you think. Colour takes two to three hours. Lash extensions two to three. Nobody enjoys a rushed appointment.

What happens when you arrive

  1. 1 You tell us what you want, or say you are not sure and want advice. Both are completely normal.
  2. 2 We look at your hair or skin and ask a few questions — what you use at home, any allergies, anything that has reacted before, whether you are pregnant, and for hair, whether you have ever used henna or box dye.
  3. 3 We tell you the price, before starting. If nobody offers a price, ask. You are entitled to it and no good salon will be offended.
  4. 4 You get seated, gowned, and the treatment starts.
  5. 5 At the end you check the result in the mirror while you are still in the chair. This is the moment to speak up, not later.
  6. 6 You pay at the end. Cash or bank transfer.

How to ask for a haircut without knowing the words

You do not need the vocabulary. Photos and plain description work better anyway. Useful things to say:

  • "Take this much off" — and hold your fingers at the length.
  • "I want to keep the length but lose the weight" — thinning out heavy hair without shortening it.
  • "I want it to look fuller at the ends."
  • "I tie my hair up most days" — this genuinely changes how a stylist cuts.
  • "I do not want to blow-dry it every day" — so we cut something that air-dries well.
  • "Only the damaged ends, please."

Say this one sentence

"Please do not cut more than this without asking me first." Say it before scissors touch your hair. Every good stylist respects it, and it removes the fear that makes people avoid salons.

How to say no to extras

You will sometimes be offered add-ons — a treatment with your colour, a mask with your facial. Some are genuinely useful, some you do not need today. Either way, you are allowed to decline, and you do not owe anyone a reason.

Easy, polite, final:

  • "Not today, thank you."
  • "Just what I booked, please."
  • "Maybe next time — what is the price so I can plan for it?"

Nobody will think badly of you. And if you feel pressured after saying no once, that is useful information about the salon.

Speak up during, not after

This is the thing I most want people to take away. If the water is too hot, the threading is hurting more than it should, the wax feels too hot, the colour looks different from what you expected, or the eye makeup is heavier than you wanted — say it immediately.

Mid-treatment, almost everything is adjustable. Afterwards, much less is. No therapist worth her job will be offended. We would far rather fix it in the moment than have you leave unhappy and never come back.

Practical questions people are shy to ask

  • Is tipping expected? Not required. Appreciated if you are happy, entirely optional.
  • Can I bring someone? Yes, and a lot of first-timers do.
  • Is it ladies-only? Ours is, yes.
  • Can I keep my dupatta or hijab on until the treatment starts? Of course.
  • Can I use my phone? Yes, except during makeup or lashes when we need your face still and your eyes closed.
  • What if I am late? Call. We will tell you honestly whether it still fits or whether it is better to rebook.
  • Can I just come and ask advice without booking? Yes. Consultations cost nothing and I would much rather look at your hair than guess over WhatsApp.

If it is your first time, come on a weekday morning between 10AM and 12PM. It is quiet, nobody is rushing, and you can ask as many questions as you want. We are in Green Cap Housing Scheme near Metro Gajumatta Station on Ferozepur Road. WhatsApp 0328-0088408.
